NYC-based a cappella group Crosstown Vocal is proud to announce that, after a long and arduous journey that began with an audition on a brisk day in March (pictured right) that they will be singing the National Anthem at Citi Field on Saturday, August 15th, 2015 before the first-place Mets take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Crosstown Vocal is a nine-person ensemble made up of singers from all around the United States and who love to make music. A cappella music is made without instruments, so whether its the Star-Spangled Banner or a contemporary rock song, all the sounds you hear are made by the singers voices alone (including vocal percussion).
To sing the National Anthem before a sell out crowd at Citi Field is an honor, and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for several members of the group. One of the members was born and raised in Flushing and has been a season ticket holder since 2006.
Crosstown Vocal has already been featured at various events around New York City, having performed at the Intrepid Memorial Day Weekend Festival, at the New York Public Library’s Holiday Gala and at venues like Arlene’s Grocery. You can follow them on Facebook by clicking on this link: Crosstown Vocal on Facebook.
The National Anthem is at 6:57 p.m. and first pitch is at 7:10 p.m., so please make it to the ballpark early so that you can park your cars and get to your seats.
Thank you to our fans for all the support throughout the years, and we hope to see you there!
