The Mets placed superstar Yoenis Cespedes on the disabled list last night, finally admitting defeat to a bad quadriceps strain that has hobbled Cespedes for weeks. Due to the injury’s severity, he hasn’t been able to play every day and hasn’t been able to play center field because the Mets were trying to rest him and ease him through it. This is not an uncommon way to handle a player injury.
What is uncommon, however, is that Cespedes had apparently declared himself healthy enough to play golf nearly every day on that same bad quadriceps. And do so competitively!
Somehow, people are not unified in the idea that they should be upset about this. Roger and I discuss the Cespedes injury, the Jay Bruce trade, the loss of Dilson Herrera, reacquiring Jon Niese, and more on this week’s episode.
